Vista Watch
Microsoft’s Vista, scheduled for wide release in January, won the desktop war by competing against better products, Mac OS and OS/2, on favorable pricing and bundling with PC-hardware vendors. But Vista also competes against Microsoft XP and Windows 2000. It’s been said that a house divided can not stand. Will Linux rise to the occasion?

More Free Than Ever
Skype’s internet phone service just got, well, more free. Previously, you could call other Skype users for free, but you were required to pay a small fee for calling other telephone numbers. Now, SkypeOut, as it’s called, is also free, until at least New Year’s Eve. Go try Skype!
