At the Western Railway Museum outside of Suisun City, it’s time to board with your ticket to the past. The museum features 50 historic rail cars, a mission-revival style visitor center and one and a half acres of shaded picnic grounds. A group of concerned Bay Area residents founded the museum in 1946 when they found out that the streetcar they had rented for a party was about to be demolished. The facility has since expanded to include 50 miles of track for visitors to ride in restored cars. The museum even houses Maude’s railroad-car house from the cult movie “Harold and Maude.”
