Little Gregory’s loss is still a huge hole in the hearts of his parents and all that knew him. I remember during Gregory’s illness the intensity with which his parents searched for information about Gaucher disease. Knowing there wasn’t any scientific research on this disorder was mind-blowing to all of us.
These parents are true advocates for Gaucher patients and their parents, as well as for the doctors and scientists working with them. A very important detail about Greg and Deborah’s efforts is that all donations made to this nonprofit organization go toward research. Any other costs associated with the research fund are donated and/or paid for by the founders. This truly is a grassroots organization helping scientists and doctors uncover the mystery of Gaucher.

Re: “PG&E vs. SMUD”Tim Simmons says …I would love to see this information at the malls in Woodland and Davis. I would not assume the older generation in Yolo County is “informed.” They watch TV and see all the advertisements about cost, SMUD not being able to provide and Mr. Sacramento, Stan Atkinson, siding with PG&E (I know most of them don’t see the blurred notes at the bottom of the screen stating Stan is making big $$$ to do this ad and these may not be his views).
This annexation by SMUD is without a doubt a gold star move and will benefit the people of both Sacramento and Yolo County. I strongly urge all of my neighbors in Yolo County to vote yes in November.
Re: Ray Kerridge
Cover StoryDavid Pears-Kerridge says …I feel I have to add something to your article for the record. Ray has always had a sweet tooth, but his real favorite candy is “coconut ice,” and it was always hidden in the refrigerator by our mother.
I am surprised that you picked up on the karate thing. Normally, Ray reserves that for his classes at the weekend up in Washington. That’s where he enjoys the sound of crushing bones and installing smart bumps to people’s scalps (ask me; I have several).
It’s pure pleasure to read about what he and his staff are attempting to turn around.
Re: “Supermarket Gas Stations Pump Sales”Gary Peare says …Regarding Raley’s Aisle 1, the credit for naming Aisle 1 actually should go to Oakland-based Bedrock Brand Consultants and Janzen IdeaCorp of Fresno. Bedrock also designed the logo. I coined the Aisle 1 name while working with both Bedrock and Janzen.
