Vista Watch
Vista has been on its second round of beta testing for a few months now, and you can download it from Microsoft’s website. Confusion about platform requirements and Vista versions reigns, and Office 2007 won’t be out until January; holiday marketing plans for PC vendors must be chaotic. I predict that businesses won’t be implementing Vista in big numbers before 2008.
Dealing With Security Concerns: Microsoft’s security strategy for Vista is to reduce bugs that could lead to security problems and add defenses to make it difficult to exploit any weaknesses that might be found. Its new Visual Studio now notifies developers of functions in their code that may lead to security problems and have been banned from use in Windows programs.
