     Phillips finds it unsettling that a missing person could be labeled a John or Jane Doe. “There are thousands of unidentified deceased persons in this country,” she says. “I believe all of these persons are missing to someone: a family member, a law enforcement officer or forensic investigator.”
     Her organization’s website lists hundreds of photos of men and women who are missing from locations across the country. “There’s nothing worse than not knowing the whereabouts of your loved one,” Phillips says. “If I can make this process easier for other families, then I’m doing something that I can truly feel good about.”
