The First, Best, And The Ugly

The new Mercedes wasn’t “soft” enough. The new Lexus felt like it was “flying, not attached to the ground.” And the new Beamer was a bummer.
     Then along came the new Jaguar. This was ju-u-st right. So nice that Kais (“Kice”) Menoufy, president and CEO of Delegata Corp., Sacramento, is driving a leased 2003 dark-blue Jaguar XJ8 sedan he expects to replace with another Jag when his current three-year lease expires this year.
     Menoufy, now in his 50s, has been driving Jaguars, his “best car ever,” since 1988. “I like Jaguars because they have power but are stable on the road,” he says.
His series of Jags are a far cry from the first car he ever drove, a 1970 Opel. He was 22 and had just completed studies at the University of Cairo in his native Egypt for a degree in business and management. The first car Menoufy owned was a 1975 Mazda.
     His dream wheels? He already has it. “I’m happy with my Jaguar,” Menoufy says. “It’s my dream car.”
