Giving Thanks
As another year comes to a close I find it’s important to reflect on all that I’ve experienced over the past year and traditionally take a moment to show my gratitude. I’d like to take time to celebrate before turning to next year’s goals.
In this issue you will find plenty of ideas, tips and inspiration to make the most of the season’s traditions and celebrations. Our cover story (see “Critiquing the Scene,” page 38) brings a spotlight to the status of the region’s arts and culture scene, courtesy of the experts in our roundtable. The consensus: there is much room for improvement, especially on the marketing, promotion and collaboration ends. They also point out that there are plenty of remarkable ways to have fun right now. Our Tank of Gas (“Spice Up the Holidays,” page 60) focuses on classic events and some more unusual festivities and cultural options if you are looking to start your own tradition. And, if you find yourself suffering from the excesses of the season (see “…The Aftermath,” page 74) we offer some survival tips.
With all of December’s celebrations and obligations, it provides an opportunity to revel in the connections that hold us together. I also want to thank all of Prosper’s staff, contributors, clients, advertisers and business partners for their flexibility, constancy and creative efforts.
To that end, I especially want to welcome Michael Ashker, Prosper’s new Managing Partner. I met Michael at Agility Partners and, impressed with his business savvy and energy, have recruited him to join our team. We also have formed M2 Venture Partners, a new venture fund. Together, our top priority is establishing Prosper as a great media company.
