Justin Bailie (Fast Lane, p. 42 and If the Shoe Fits, p. 98)

Shooting runners makes my job easy. They’re (usually) fit, attractive, easy to get along with and fun. Sally Edwards was a pleasure and very helpful. Pat and Jan Sweeney were great. I had them doing wind sprints for an hour or so trying to tire them out. Didn’t seem to work at all.”

Justin Bailie is a South Lake Tahoe freelance adventure, lifestyle and environmental photographer. Bailie has worked with clients such as Outside, National Geographic Adventure, Men’s Journal and Rolex to name a few.

Harrison Sheppard (Government 3.0, p. 20)

Personally, I have a hard enough time fulfilling the duties of my full-time job, much less writing for Prosper on the side. So I have to say I’m impressed when I come across someone like Clark Kelso. Not only is he working to overhaul the state’s information infrastructure without a staff, but he considers that his side job. For him, it’s an interesting little challenge that lasted longer than expected. Next year he expects to hand the reins over, but I have no doubt he’ll quickly find a new mess in state government to fix.

Harrison Sheppard is Capitol bureau chief for the Los Angeles Daily News.

Pamela Martineau (Green Hotels, p. 36 and Tomorrowville, p. 62)

Even though I’m 20 or more years away from that life passage, boomers are making retirement look pretty hip. I look at people in their 60s and 70s now and tell myself that I want their lives.

Pamela Martineau is an award-winning journalist with more than 18 years experience. After 10 years as a senior writer at The Sacramento Bee, she launched a freelance career in January. She lives in Davis.
