Too Many Lobbyists per Capitol;

and Hollywood Needs a Hand

Two competing prescription-drug initiatives are included on the Nov. 8 special election ballot. Consumer groups are sponsoring one; the pharmaceutical industry — with $100 million raised in the public campaign — are sponsoring the other. Not surprisingly, most of the money has flowed from the nation’s major drug companies, who have a multibillion dollar market in California.
