What's Fresno Got That We Don't?
More Sweat
Sweat experts have some bad news for Sacramento: You’re just not that hot anymore. But you wouldn’t be able to tell from this photo of Prosper account exec Rob Bassett steaming the night away at our recent River Cats soiree.
The fourth annual Old Spice Sweatiest Cities list, released in June before that wicked July heat wave kicked in, has made it official – summers in Sacramento are getting cooler. In 2002, the first year of the study, Sacramento ranked 21st among the nation’s 100 sweatiest cities. Sadly for those competitive individuals who “sweat” the little things in life, this year the city only made it to 49th.
Sweat experts – now there’s a job title for you – rank each city using the average high temperature from the 2004 summer months. A city’s sweatiness is then ranked by the perspiration level of males and females of average height and weight who have been walking for one hour.
Phoenix was ranked the No. 1 sweatiest city in the United States. In honor of such a dubious distinction, Old Spice will deliver one year’s supply of Old Spice Red Zone antiperspirant to Phoenix’s mayor, Phil Gordon.
Other cities in California to make the list were Fresno at 23rd, San Diego at 69th, with fog-bound San Francisco bringing up the rear.
