Recently, young Jason Loucks, a local spelling bee winner, was an invited guest at the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors meeting. He was there to accept his county bootie — a certificate of recognition signed by the supes. Jason was initially reluctant to address the board, and was spared the stress of an impromptu spelling test.
“Wait, don’t leave yet Jason,” an encouraging voice from Supervisor Roger Dickinson boomed. “How do you practice?” Jason replied his mother quizzes him from a word list and he said he is working with a “strange book of words.” Dickinson continued the conversation: “Jason tells us a strange word.”
“Callipygous,” Jason replied without hesitation.
“What does it mean?” asked Dickinson.
Without pause, the confident young spelling champ responded, “Having shapely buttocks.”
