Wooly Yarn Barn
A Northern California teacher found a way to turn her passion into a thriving eBay business by selling the wool from her sheep.      
     Teresa Simons, who has 38 sheep on her ranch in Placerville, has built a passion into a thriving online business by specializing in raising the rare Cotswold breed.     
     For more than three years, she’s operated her own eBay Store, through which she peddles handmade yarns, fresh fleece for spinning, spinning wheels and hand-crafted shawls.     
     Once she got started on eBay, “It all just sort of snow-balled,” Simons says. Soon she couldn’t keep up with the demand and had to find sources for additional inventory. The answer was importing unique yarns and fibers for spinners. Now she grosses more than $1,000 a month.     
     Simons, a former special education teacher and now a substitute teacher who intends to return to schooling fulltime, originally discovered eBay as a source for buying classroom supplies. But for more than 20 years, she’d been a wool-spinning hobbyist and decided to try selling some of her products.
