When Cows Fly
Drivers heading north out of downtown Sacramento on 16th Street can always count on Ruland’s Used Office Furniture for a hefty chuckle. The company on the corner of 16th and North B, has proven that full-grown adults can find great excitement in the wonder of what a huge plastic cow will look like next.
Is This Sacramento?
Photographer Neil Michel inquired of the acquired bustling-city-street photo taken in 1945. Georgene Waterman (Insomnia contributor) solved the mystery. She emailed the photo to her dad, a life-long Sacramentan, for identification.
“Yes, that’s Sacramento.” George Matranga wrote. It’s the corner of 10th and K streets. That’s the Sacramento Hotel, and there’s Grayson’s. I bought your mom an outfit there when we were going together, and her mother wanted her to give it back.”
