The Small Business Administration Pushes Lenders

     Times are good for small-business owners looking to borrow some extra money.
     The U.S. Small Business Administration is pushing lenders to put cash into the hands of new businesses. For businesses of all ages, the SBA removed some geographic and paperwork lending barriers last year, heating up an already competitive market.            
     And for manufacturers, the SBA has dramatically raised the borrowing limit, allowing them to leverage deals as large as $10 million.            
     “If you’re a creditworthy person with a good business purpose in mind, you are going to get a loan. That’s all there is to it,” says Frank Dinsmore, CEO of REsource Capital in Citrus Heights, one of the most active lenders in the SBA’s Sacramento District.  

Lay of the Land
     The Sacramento District covers 21 inland counties from San Joaquin to the Oregon border. The most active territory, however, is a ring around Sacramento.
