Not Picked - and Ticked!

Prosper’s introduction in its premiere October 2004 issue of the Baby Blue Chip poll of 10 hot-prospect emerging local-area companies — as picked by financial and investment pros in the region — was a winner for readers, judging by the initial response and continuing feedback.
    Less than impressed, however, is one Sacramento Metro Market corporate captain who sniffs at some of the companies named as potential future winners. At least one that made the list may really be feeling blue, he suggests.
    “One, maybe two, of the companies your ‘experts’ picked won’t even be around when you have your 2005 poll,” he predicts. “They’ll be out of business.”
    Perhaps. Time will show who’s still standing. Maybe this company chief is miffed because his company wasn’t on the list. “It should have been,” he grumbles. Maybe this year. (The inaugural poll’s 10 “winners” and February’s profile are on page 21)
