Jim Fitzpatrick has rubbed elbows with some of the most famous golfers in America’s PGA, but these days it’s not his golf game that has him brushing up against some of the top pro golfers in the world.
Fitzpatrick turned his passion for the sport into a thriving career, as an artist whose paintings depict some of the world’s most beautiful golf course settings. His fans and buyers of his work include PGA members, among them Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus.
A native of California, Fitzpatrick grew up in Sacramento and says he has always been an athlete. He tried team sports but didn’t like the lack of individual accountability over performance. “In golf, there’s good luck and bad luck, but there’s nobody else to blame.”
His father introduced him to the sport, but there’s a moment he remembers when his fascination with golf really began. “It was when I first saw the Bing Crosby Tournament (now the AT&T at Pebble Beach) on TV. I saw the beauty of the golf course and the excitement of the tournament and I was hooked.”
