Web Developer Makes Commute Cycle From Carmichael to Rancho Cordova

Negotiating the region’s traffic every workday can sometimes make even the most prized position unlovable, or, at least, get the day off to a bad start. But web developer John Foss has found a solution to the trials of the daily commute and a “different way to travel the world” in general.
    If you’re thinking “bicycle,” you’re only half right.
    Foss, 42, makes the 8.2-mile trip from his Carmichael home to his job at Anderson Solone Inc. in Rancho Cordova on his 36-inch-wheel Coker Deluxe unicycle.
    His route through William Pond Park and over the bike-path bridge across the American River keeps him out of heavy traffic, except for about 100 yards on Folsom Boulevard. Cruising at an estimated 14 mph, the ride normally takes 40 minutes.
