Yee-Garcia says that despite being a long-time soccer player, she simply doesn’t have time for the sport anymore, and at most she’s lucky to get in an occasional run.

In that vision, Yee-Garcia reflects the spirit of entrepreneurship and a desire to take control of their lives that is yet another common element among the Whiz Kids.
Andy Eppinger
Thirty-three-year-old Andy Eppinger is a case study in taking control. The husband and father of two left a successful career in radio sales and made a complete career change to found the Society of Orators, which produces the
Sacramento Speakers Series.
“At the time I started, I believed this would be a way to give something back to the community and have more time for my family,” says Eppinger.
So far he’s been half right. The Sacramento Speakers Series launched in late October with an event featuring Michael Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev, and will bring world leaders to Sacramento every month. The more-time-with-his-family element, however, hasn’t yet materialized.
“I’m the only employee,” Eppinger says with a laugh, “so this is pretty much a 24-hour a day, seven-days-a-week job. But I knew going in that’s how it would be at the start. Once we have a good base of season-ticket holders, things should calm down considerably.”
