Getting Ahead: Promote Yourself,
and Don’t Forget to Ask for the
Promotion

So you think you’re ready for promotion, eh?
     Are you really ready for promotion? Have you recently taken on additional responsibilities and succeeded? Are you currently doing the job you want to be promoted into? Have you asked for the job (sale) and made your desires and intentions known to your immediate supervisor and to his/her boss as well?
    Few organizations enhance their employees’ skill sets, train them for “promotability,” then promote their people into positions that help both the individual and the company to grow. If you work for a company that does all of this in these economic times, you’ll need an advantage over everyone else.
    Ask for the order. Ask for the promotion. Very few people back their way into a promotion, and even more don’t demonstrate their desire to be promoted.
