West Sacramento’s Chris Cabaldon

An Ambitious Wonk on the Riled Side

West Sacramento’s mayor, Chris Cabaldon, is - by his own admission - a  policy wonk. He loves to talk about planning and zoning, maintaining a healthy housing mix, mass transportation and attracting businesses that will generate tax revenue, all of them issues prevalent in the region. 
    They’re also factors remaking West  Sacramento into a much larger and  more influential community, transforming  its long-standing image as a collection of warehouses, and in the process, turning Cabaldon into a rising star in the Democratic Party. 
    Cabaldon, 38, grew up in a  Southern California, Filipino-American  family. After earning a degree in environmental economics at UC Berkeley, and a masters degree in public policy and administration at CSUS, he chose  to remain in the state capital he says, “to work on change through state government.” Cabaldon is a 12-year resident of West Sacramento.
