Jeff Wilson Climbing Walls

The phone call from ABC Television presented a simple enough request: “Does your company manufacture landscape rocks?”
    “Sure,” Jeff Wilson, president and CEO of Extreme Engineering LLP, recalls saying.
    Once he hung up the phone, he asked his staff, “Can we build landscape rocks?”
    The answer was a tentative yes. They had no idea how. Digging into research, the company discovered “there’s no really good technology for building rocks,” Wilson says. So he and his workers developed new polymers to build molds and rocks.
    Then more calls came. The technology was perfected. The market grew, and a subsidiary company was born, all because of a phone call from ABC’s “Extreme Makeovers” staff wanting imitation rocks for a show that rebuilds people’s homes.
