An Introduction

by Warren Smith

Welcome to Prosper, a monthly business magazine serving the greater Sacramento Metro Market and targeted to you. As its name implies, Prosper is about your achievement and your success. Its content will focus on making, investing, saving, finding and keeping money.
With 16 years of experience doing business throughout this region, and as a founder and now executive vice president of the River Cats, I know opportunity knocks when someone sees a need and fills it. A new publishing voice for our emerging marketplace was an idea long overdue. I founded Prosper on the premise that the successful CEOs, the middle managers of large and small companies, the promising entrepreneurs and the ambitious hopefuls of the Sacramento region need to exploit their accomplishments, learn from each other and share with the world the dynamics of the budding Sacramento Metro Marketplace.
Like adolescents sowing their oats, the Sacramento metro business community is a whirlwind of activity. Growing up and defining itself as a national and international marketplace is a challenge yet to be met. The incredible change in the perception of our community as a bastion for government workers to a dynamic marketplace is a story worth telling, and every month, in lots of different ways, Prosper will tell that tale.
But my main objective for starting Prosper and my directive to the talented team of editors, writers, designers and photographers gathered for this pursuit, was to design a magazine that simplifies business for those of us doing business in the region.
The mission at Prosper is to provide accurate business information that is pertinent, well-written, graphically pleasing and informational. You will notice while reading Prosper, that you can get in and get out of a subject quickly. If you want more information, the magazine will direct you to an interactive website at www.prospermag.com, or other online resources. And because there is always time for a little fun, Prosper will include lighter fare.
This magazine is for and about you and your input is essential. Please complete the Prosper reader’s survey on page 95. Going forward, your collective responses will influence content. To receive Prosper regularly, please return the subscription card by mail or visit www.prospermag.com and subscribe online. Professionally auditing the number of Prosper readers is a process that starts with this issue and will be ongoing. Our advertisers need accurate and honest information, and Prosper will provide it.
