Re: Heart & Sold, The True Tale of Shari’s Berries
Pam Marrone says …
I received my Prosper magazine with Shari Fitzpatrick on the cover the same day that Founder Michael Dell took back the CEO job at Dell. As someone with similar founding experience as Shari, I enjoyed the article immensely and wholeheartedly agree with her “lessons learned.”
Studies have shown that companies that have founder(s) actively involved outperform companies that don’t. Good examples are Whole Foods, Apple, Netflix, Central and Garden & Pet. After all, the founder has built the company brick by brick, applies many learned lessons and knows the business, competition and industry inside out.
However, life as a founder, as Shari candidly describes, is precarious. It is important not to take it too personally and remember that it is rarely about competence but always about control.

Re: Mediation vs. Lawsuit

Thank you for mentioning community mediation centers in your article. The Sacramento Mediation Center was founded in 1987 and is a nonprofit serving the community and helping to solve disputes among neighbors, businesses, relationships, students, etc. Our fees are relatively low, and we have a panel of more than 150 skilled mediators who volunteer their time. Our success rate for the parties to reach an agreement is more than 85 percent.

You should check out a Zumba class done by Tanya Pimenta. Tanya is the “original” Zumba instructor for Sacramento and teaches Zumba full time. Tanya brought Zumba to Sacramento and has added many more new Zumba instructors to our area.

Re: The Valley’s Neglected Main Street
Tara says …
I have to commute on the terrible thing several times a week, going between Visalia and Fresno. Highway 99 only has two lanes most of the way. At some points, there are three different elevations in a lane, making one’s car wobble. I’m seriously thinking about going the back way on the country roads. It would make a one-hour trip two hours, but I just don’t feel safe on the thing. Other drivers drive way too fast considering Hwy. 99’s poor road conditions. I WISH SOMEBODY WOULD FIX IT! There are lots of people who need to get to work and college up in Fresno, not to mention trucks that need to move products.

Thank you for the great article and the link to suisunwaterfront.com. We have already received several referrals from your site. It is starting out to be a great year in educating visitors about the amazing wildlife the Suisun Marsh has to offer. In turn, that is introducing our lovely marina and downtown to many new faces. As you may know, we have a rare snowy owl that has taken up residence. Birders from all over the western states have been “flocking” in to see the owl.

On Jeffrey S. Young’s “Radio Daze”
Josh Morgan says

It would be really interesting to see talk radio try to incorporate some of the concepts of social networking, like having individual callers get listed on the radio site with Del.icio.us tags or having all calls get posted on sites with individual tags, using something like Odeo.

Correction
In our February cover story the web address for Shari’s Berries and the date the site went live were misstated. The web address is www.berryfactory.com and the date is Nov. 20, 2006.
