The CFA Society of Sacramento held its 4th annual Market Forecast Luncheon at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. The UC Davis Graduate School of Management sponsored the event, which included a reception and luncheon along with presentations detailing the outlook for global financial markets and the economic outlook for California and Sacramento.

Sacramento International Airport is now home to a Vino Volo (derived from Italian for “wine flight”), the highly successful chain of wine boutiques and tasting rooms first seen in 2005 at Washington D.C.’s Dulles International Airport. Vino Volo combines a tasting bar and restaurant with a wine lounge and boutique area. Vino Volo officially opened for business on Jan. 10 in Terminal A, next to the food court.

Crush 29 and the South Placer UC Davis Breast Cancer Endowment partnered on Jan. 12 for the opening of Roseville’s newest restaurant venture, Crush 29. Nearly $20,000 was raised for the endowment. The restaurant is owned by Abe Alizadeh, head of Kobra Properties. About 150 people attended.

Lennar celebrated the newly opened Solar Plus community in Roseville with a Jan. 16 event at the Wayfarer at Westpark community, one of three that Lennar has opened. All of the homes in each planned community are completely solar powered. The communities cater to environmentally conscious homebuyers. As of January, 41 homes have been purchased at Wayfarer.

Metro Chamber Awards
On Jan. 27, the Sacramento Metro Chamber kicked off the new year with its 112th annual Dinner & Business Awards. Chamber members, elected officials and members of the business community gathered to celebrate businesses across the region. Among the honorees was the Honorable Illa Collin, Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, who was named “Sacramentan of the Year.”
