Prosper Media Expands Senior Management Team, Adds To Existing Creative and Operational Strength

Four new hires combine global depth of experience, “world-class” ideas, and demonstrated success

December 13, 2006 (SACRAMENTO) - In a move to expand operational capabilities and implement new media delivery modes, Prosper Media Group announced today the addition of four new executives to its senior management team: Michael Ashker, Managing Partner; Jeffrey Young, Editor-in-Chief; Scott Doniger, Vice President, Marketing and Circulation; and Caroline Logan, Sales Manager.

“These additions represent an exciting new phase for Prosper,” said Michael Teel, Partner, Prosper Media. “World-class people bring world-class ideas. Combined with the strengths of our existing team, these moves set the stage for a fresh vision that will elevate Prosper’s capabilities to a whole new level.”

“This team is second to none,” added Prosper Founder Warren Smith. “The fact that we’re able to bring in the Sacramento region’s best and brightest is a testament to Prosper’s success to-date and vision for the future.”

The expanded team will be led by Managing Partner Michael Ashker, a venture capitalist with a solid reputation of transforming companies from good to great. An innovator in e-commerce, Ashker was the founder and CEO of Healthaxis, the first internet company to offer health insurance directly to consumers. He also co-founded Courtlink, a company later sold to Lexis-Nexis, which provided lawyers with a digital platform to file court documents online.

“The great thing about Prosper is that it has all the excitement and energy of a start-up but with an existing infrastructure and operating foundation already in place,” said Ashker. “My role has been to re-define the vision and map out the path for achieving that vision. Then it’s about giving these very talented people the platform to succeed in transforming Prosper into a highly regarded and leading media company.”

Editor in Chief Jeffrey Young brings extensive knowledge of editorial management and online content development to Prosper. Co-founder of MacWorld magazine, a former editor at Forbes magazine, and the co-founder of Forbes.com, Young will define and lead the next generation of content and design for all Prosper Media properties. He will also look to enhance Prosper’s online presence and develop new modes of providing information to readers.

“It’s a challenge to think outside the box, to tell stories in new and multi-dimensional ways,” said Young. “That’s what Prosper is all about and that really appeals to me.”

Scott Doniger, Vice President, Marketing and Circulation, offers 17 years of brand marketing, analysis, and business-building capability, and is responsible for leading the company’s new integrated marketing strategy. Doniger has national branding and global marketing and analysis experience with companies such as BMW of North America and Forrester Research. He will focus on expanding Prosper’s footprint throughout the region and exploring new outlets for Prosper’s messages.

“Being a part of Prosper’s evolution from a successful and intelligent magazine to a dynamic multi-media organization presents a rare opportunity,” said Doniger. “Californians live smart, so for me it’s exciting to present all of Prosper’s media properties in ways that engage this increasingly diverse community in the idea of prosperity.”

Featured in Prosper as a 2007 Whiz Kid, Caroline Logan joins the team as Sales Manager and will spearhead Prosper’s sales and relationship-building platforms with advertisers. Most recently with WebEx, Logan has more than 13 years experience selling technology solutions and boasts an impressive track record of producing robust sales and creative solutions that exceed client needs.

“I thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment,” said Logan. “I’ve been lucky to find opportunities where I’m part of the next big thing, which is what makes Prosper’s dynamic nature and growing market presence such a perfect fit.”

The company’s senior management team is rounded out by existing members Michelle Margetts, a 19-year journalism veteran and Managing Editor since Prosper’s debut two years ago, and David Smith, General Manager.

“We now have a team of real “all-stars”, and we’re poised to become the leading voice for Californians searching for information and experiences that reflect their desire to live more prosperous lives,” said Smith. “Our new team is the realization of that goal and I’m confident they will set the pace for our journey into new markets.”

Prosper magazine was launched in 2004 with a focus on the Sacramento marketplace and community. The publication currently has an audited monthly subscriber base of nearly 30,000 readers.
