Trust Yourself

Welcome. You’re not the only one building your own future. As 2007 dawns, I’m beginning a new journey with this magazine, and the magazine is beginning a new stage of its journey with me.
Reinvention, recreation, reevaluation, redirection. January is the traditional time to take stock of the past and adjust to the future. So that’s what we’ve tried to do with the issue of Prosper that you’re holding in your hands. But we’ve done it in our own unique way, by laughing at the plethora of self-help stories you’ve undoubtedly waded through as 2006 came to a close.
Our basic message: Trust Yourself. You already know what to do and how to do it. We hope you’ll smile when you pore over our fractured tips and chuckle when you peer over the former governor’s son’s shoulder as he discovers the curse of notoriety. Along the way we’ll also help you get a better job, inspire you to put together your own business plan for a clean energy startup, and maybe even push you into a fitness program (Zumba anyone?) that you can stick with for more than a week.
However, there’s a deeper meaning at work here: Prosper Magazine is in the process of transforming itself as well. We’re Building Our Own Future as you watch.
Nothing lasts forever, and while the magazine has soared through two years of issues, it is time to update. We’re still determined to document the nature of prosperity in Northern California, celebrating those who have attained it responsibly and helping those who aspire to reach it in many varied ways. Call it sustainable prosperity. Being prosperous means more than making money. It requires living in balance. It requires a small footprint on the globe. And most of all it means contributing to the prosperity of others.
Work Smart. Live Well. Give Back. This is our mantra and defines how we see our mission. We hope you’ll stay with us on this journey, as we explore the nature of prosperity and celebrate those who stretch their limits and challenge themselves, their friends, their families, and their worlds, for the better.
May you prosper along with us.
