Re: Global Biz 101
Michele Gault says …Most people don’t realize the many global linkages that exist in the Sacramento region. However, there are numerous companies in the area that are importing and/or exporting, and we are home to two of the state’s major inland ports. 95 percent of California exporters are small businesses. For those who are interested in learning about the many opportunities that exist in international trade, the Northern California World Trade Center offers the International Business Leadership Certificate Program to train individuals on a variety of topics relating to starting up an international business. I invite you to visit our website to learn more:
www.norcalwtc.org Brooks Ohlson says …The Sacramento Center for International Trade hosts the CITD and U.S. Commercial Service (U.S. Embassy) connections for your foreign research and contacts while providing complimentary small business consulting and export marketing consulting. Janice Cooper is one of our consultants who works with small companies to help their export market potential. George Tastard is also located at our center. This one-stop location also hosts an extensive online and publication library, which is free to visit and use anytime. The CITD and U.S. Commercial service are hosted by the Los Rios Community College District.

On Ed Ring’s “Outlaw Public Employee Unions”
Steve H. says …Wow. Folks the employee pension plan thing is going on all over Calif. In N.J. the private sector is just finally waking up to the fact that their pensions are gone, taxes are going up and their retirement is delayed so their government employee neighbor can retire at 50 at 100 percent of his highest salary plus benefits and cost of living increases for life. When are we going to wake up? Too late?
On Molly Stuart’s “Biz Resources”
Janice Blizzard says …
What a great link! This is the sort of comprehensive list I’ve been looking for. We always get people who come into the bank to open their business accounts but are not sure how to go about starting their businesses. This will be very useful. I will be sure to pass it around.
On Scott Doniger’s “A Fast Train to A Better Future”
David D. says …
Your Japan trip has reinforced my conviction that mass transit improvement, not highway construction, could and should play the most important role in reducing our need for fossil fuel purchased at the high price extorted by our enemies in the Moslem world. More than 30 years ago my late Uncle Arthur traveled to Japan and returned extolling the virtues of the bullet train he had enjoyed and, as a retired engineer, he was aware of the potentially immense future of maglev transportation in oil-dependent societies. I found your blog and the magazine very interesting.
