Fact: On Nov. 14, 1984 the Davis City Council declared the city to be a nuclear free zone. Days nuclear free: 7,863

Fact: Native studies: UC Davis is home to the first Native American studies doctoral program in the country.

Fact: Smoking is prohibited within 20 feet of or close enough to certain areas for smoke to travel into an area or building where smoking is prohibited, whichever is greater.

Fact: The famous toad tunnel. When the city realized there was a highway built straight across an amphibian migration trail, it built tunnels under the freeway so the critters would be able to cross.
