Over the next 15 years, she gained fluency in English and business administration. With a strong work ethic and people skills, she worked her way up to become a VP in charge of operation of 15 offices. With this success came continual travel and general exhaustion, and she turned to spa services to alleviate her body’s complaints. Gradually, the wild notion of becoming a spa proprietor became a goal. Last December, Torres opened the doors on the upscale Spa Du Jour in Rocklin.
The facility is impressive, and includes many services not typically offered at other spas. For example, though adults make up the lion’s share of her clientele, she is pleased to provide makeup and skin education to teen girls who are often poorly informed about how to manage oily blemish-prone teen skin.
Like any first-time entrepreneur, Torres feels like she’s made mistakes which have cost her, but she’s taken strategic marketing very seriously from the start. After being in business for just four months, she’s already on track to break even soon. If her 15-year-old self could see her, it’s a fair guess she’d be pleased.
